Training Day 1: October 29, 2024 (9-3 pm)

Title: MTSS Overview and Mindsets

Description: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) provides a framework for organizing your instructional supports, data, and data-based teams. But implementing an effective and equitable MTSS also requires having the right mindset. This 1-day training will explore both the critical features of MTSS and the collective mindsets necessary to make MTSS work for your students and staff. School teams will engage in activities designed to identify strengths and areas for improvement in your MTSS components as well as the essential MTSS mindsets. Following this training, teams will have a better understanding of areas to focus on next.

Objectives:

  1. Examine the mindset needed for effective MTSS
  2. Provide an overview of MTSS
  3. Identify roles and responsibilities of leadership teams
  4. Use the MTSS rubric to identify strengths and areas for improvement

Training Day 2: October 30, 2024 (9-4 pm)

Title: Data-Based Decision Making and Individualizing Supports at Tier 3

Description: Data-based decision making is a critical feature of MTSS. This 1-day training will provide an overview of the problem-solving model for data-based decision making, and explore how data can be used to evaluate the instruction, curriculum, and environmental needs of your students. Participants will learn how to collect and use data across these areas to intensity supports at Tier 3 for students with intensive and/or unique needs, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.

Objectives:

  1. Examine the problem-solving model for data-based decision making
  2. Learn how to collect data to evaluate the instruction, curriculum, and environment
  3. Explore how to intensify supports at Tier 3 for students with the most intensive needs

*It is suggested that you attend BOTH days of training with your data team, if possible. However, teams and/or individuals may attend only one day if attending both days is not possible.
