Event Description: Participants will be trained in the Level 1 SK Cascade Model of Behavioral Threat Assessment that focuses on building and maintaining a sustainable, community-based preventive behavioral threat assessment system composed of site-based Level 1 teams and a community-based Level 2 team.

Who Should Attend: Audience members should include Level 1 school-site teams-district level and school level administrators, school-based mental health professionals, equity and restorative practice leadership, and school resource officers. Audience members should also include community-based public agency professionals who support schools-public mental health/assessment practitioners and administrators, representatives from juvenile services, law enforcement administrators, and other professionals from community agencies available to support schools.
Presenter Joe Holifield is presently the Project Director of the School Threat Assessment and Management Project (STAMP) and federally funded project in both San Luis Obispo and Tulare County via the District Attorney's Office in San Luis Obispo County. Joe recently completed a 4-year state-funded threat assessment research project in San Luis Obispo County known as the Behavioral Health Assessment Response Project (B-HARP). He recently was a panelist on the topic of community violence at the STOP School Violence National Conference and was a co-author of a white paper for the California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) on best practice approaches for multidisciplinary threat assessment teams in schools. Joe has trained educators and mental health providers to implement and conduct behavioral threat assessment. He has extensive experience in the treatment and design of behavioral interventions for youth with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties, an asset in crafting threat management and school safety plans. Joe has provided in-service training to school staff on the behavioral management of disruptive and aggressive behaviors in schools. He is well-versed in 504 and special educational processes and procedures specific to behavioral assessment and intervention as well as Manifestation Determination practices.
