Effectively Using Science Summative Assessment Data to Inform Continuous Improvement

Virtual Professional Development | InterMountain ESD (IMESD) | December 10, 2026, 1-3pm

OSAS Science Summative Assessment results offer more than an overall snapshot of student performance. Looking more closely at these results can help educators recognize strengths, identify areas for growth, and make informed decisions about curriculum, instruction, and professional learning.

Join ODE's Science Assessment Specialist for a virtual professional development session designed for teachers and district administrators. Together, we'll explore how the science assessment is designed, what the results can tell us about student learning, and how to use assessment target reports to support meaningful conversations about science instruction and continuous improvement.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  1. Understand the OSAS Science Summative Assessment test design and how it affects the interpretation of summative assessment results.
  2. Examine performance across science assessment targets to gain insights beyond overall proficiency rates.
  3. Identify patterns and trends that can inform curriculum planning, instructional pacing, and professional learning.
  4. Connect science assessment targets to the Oregon Science Standards to support instructional and formative assessment practices.
